cambodia 20-24 july 08

my third time back in cambodia... this time is more like a holiday retreat for me while i join yongxian n chunkit on their recce...

back at pace... this is what has become of the backyard we slogged so hard for last december... seems rather messy again but i think the mess is edible crops this time round so i guess its ok...
some new kids at pace... seems like a german grp is taking over pace n gg to change it into a home for girls only... therefore dr ryder n theary are looking at setting up their own imagine foundation to provide shelter n aid independent of LHA, which is not in gd shape since ven. somnieng left for the US...
back at CDV again... tong n wisa are still super adorable... :) i really made an impulsive mistake... the girl with hiv had a broken toe nail n open wound... seeing that it was bleeding i didn't think much before carrying her n washing her wounds... though i din come into direct contact with the wound, i realised only later how dangerous a thing i had done... i really hope tt nothing will happen... cos like wat yongxiang said, its not worth it to pay such a heavy price even if ur intentions are good...

at meng's house... its gg to be rented to imagine foundation for building a childrens' centre and classrooms... meng is some sort of property tycoon.... investing his money in land... wise choice seeing how siem reap is developing and land prices are soaring...
met up with jonathan who was on his SEA trip with geog peeps...

went to another village where food for education also helped some villagers... rice prices have gone up substantially and its getting tougher to fund this programme...

fear factor... fried cricket which savon bought for us... it was gross trying to put it into our mouths but it actually is quite ok taste wise... salty lor... haha




back at blue pumpkin, slacking n the two guys discussing their proposal...

went to west baray... its acty a huge man made reservoir built during angkor wat times... amazingly beautiful... now its a place where cambodians n tourists alike love to go to for picnics...

last day in siem reap, we decided to go for this quad bike adeventure... it was rather exciting, trying to steer the damn thing away from pits n paddy fields...

very quickly, 6 weeks have come to an end... this internship at moh is giving me headaches... is it me, or is it them... i was full of enthusiasm when i started on this leadership development thing, rushing to put my ideas onto paper, but it all didn't seem to make much sense to them or prove to much worth. perhaps i still have a lot to learn abt working life, wat i studied in sch doesn't teach me much how to survive in working life... but i'm not gg to give up! anw i don't like to dwell on depressing material...

2 days ago, me n yx passed the 6 mths mark... we went through crazy weather even b4 getting together, everything had been in fast forward mode, but now, it seems all worth it, all so right... there hasn't been a single quarrel, given my weird temperaments, its quite a feat, but it didn't feel difficult, ironically. lazy as this thinking might seem, i think two ppl in love who are similar have it much easier, that's not to say opposites can't be happy, just that more work is needed. the road ahead is still long n its less stressful to just enjoy what we have now:)
